Solidarity Action Held in Essex County
On June 12 current and former migrant workers and supporters held a solidarity action in Essex County visiting farming operations where workers have been injured or have died on the job.
Flowers were placed on the property of operations where workers died, including one where 40-year-old Tyrone Lee Jackson and 39-year-old Sheldon McKenzie died.
The actions emphasized the demand for an end to employer-specific or what are called closed work permits for migrant workers and proper health and safety protections for workers.
