Ontario Education Workers Present Arguments for Wage Increase
Education workers in Ontario have been arguing out their rationale for wage increases to combat the government’s claims they are unreasonable.
On August 12, the Canadian Union of Public Employees – Ontario School Board Council of Unions (CUPE-OSBCU) issued the following video to their membership. The presentation argues out their proposal and rationale for the increased wages they put on the table with the provincial government and Council of Trustees Association as part of education sector negotiations.
Since this video was published, the Ontario government has declared a $2.1 billion surplus after they had presented a pre-election budget that projected a $13.5 billion deficit. Instead of reinvesting this surplus, the Ontario government immediately handed it over to the banks that hold Ontario’s debt in the form of interest payments.
