Ontario Workers Stand Against Government Dictate

On November 1 thousands of people marched throughout the streets of Toronto to Queen’s Park demanding the PC government withdraw its Bill 28 the Keeping Kids in School Act. If passed the legislation would not only dictates a contract for 55,000 education workers in the province but “is declared to operate notwithstanding” sections of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and “despite” the Human Rights Code. Education workers, teachers, parents, students and many other working people made it clear only one day after the legislation was tabled that it is not acceptable.
