Saturday Actions Across Ontario – Stand With Cupe Education Workers!
The Ontario Federation of Labour has called for rallies in communities across the province this Saturday to show Ontarians stand with education workers’ need for wages and working conditions in keeping with the valuable service they provide to students, parents and society. Unless a tentative agreement is reached before Monday morning, November 21, CUPE’s 55,000 education workers will be on a full strike.
The education workers and their union’s firmness in demanding the government withdraw its draconian Keeping Students in Class Act, which imposed a contract on the workers and denied their right to challenge that in any court or tribunal, won them immediate widespread support, forcing the Ford government to back down.
Now it’s time to show the government once again that the parents, students, teachers and all working people of Ontario stand as one with education workers in this fight for the right to education. Bring banners, placards, homemade signs, purple ribbons and balloons, wear purple etc.–whatever you can to show your support
