Anti-War Rallies on Deadly Anniversaries
Sunday March 19, the Windsor Peace Coalition is holding an anti-war rally to commemorate three significant and deadly anniversaries. March 19 marks the 20th anniversary of the 2nd U.S.-led invasion of Iraq and the 12th anniversary of NATO’s bombing and destruction of Libya, which Canada played a large role in. March 24 also marks the 24th anniversary of NATO’s bombing of Yugoslavia, which Canada also participated to its shame. These anniversaries remind us about the kind of rules-based international order that Canada, the U.S. and NATO uphold internationally. It is an order where they make the rules and decide what everyone else must do and those who do not submit are attacked and destroyed.
We encourage everyone to attend and learn about the legacy of these conflicts and the resistance to them, which guides the anti-war movement today. Similar events are taking place in the United States on the occasion, organized by anti-war activists and organizations there.
