Rally of Support as Negotiations at Windsor Salt Resumes

On April 3, as negotiations resumed at Windsor Salt, a rally was held by Unifor at the Windsor Salt evaporation facility to support the striking workers and put the company on notice that they should give up their union-busting demands. Speaking to the rally were: Unifor’s Ontario Regional Director Naureen Rizvi, a representative of Unifor National President Lana Payne, Windsor West NDP MP Brian Masse, a representative of Windsor West NDP MPP Lisa Gretzky and Mehdi Kouhestaninejad, national representative of the Canadian Labour Congress. In addition to many local workers, community members and union representatives who attended, a delegation of workers from Compass Mine in Goderich, Ontario who drove down after their midnight shift to express solidarity with the striking workers.
